Steven Garnes is known for his honesty, wisdom, and love for his family and community. He’s a proud dad of seven—three sons and four daughters—and a loving grandfather. His biggest joy is seeing his family know the Lord and love each other.

He’s helped in a leadership role in past family reunion committees, always showing his strong love for the Garnes family. Steven represents the Willie & Ermer Lee Garnes branch of the John Garnes family.

Affectionately called "Uncle Steve" by many in the family, he has a way of making folks feel at home, no matter who they are. His easygoing nature and warm heart make people feel welcome and loved.

He retired from Spirit AeroSystems in March 2013 after 28 years as a sheet metal mechanic. Now, he enjoys life and makes the most of each day.

Steven worships at St. Mark Cathedral Church of God in Christ in Wichita, Ks, where he helps out in the Media Department. His faith guides him, and getting to know God is what’s mattered most to him. Alongside his faith, he loves gospel and jazz music, which bring a measure of balance and harmony to his life.

Steven and his dear wife, Mary, shared many wonderful years together before she was called home in June of 2020. Though he misses her dearly, he continues to stand strong as a leader and source of inspiration in the Garnes family.
